Great news for Indigenous students: Financial awards still available!

Indspire has a new, one-time deadline for its bursaries and scholarship awards program.
New applicants* have until February 16, 2015 to submit their applications for financial awards.

We wish you all the best as you pursue your educational goals!
*If you have already applied for the November 1, 2014 deadline, you will be hearing from Indspire by the end of February about whether or not your application was successful.

Jordin Tootoo

If anyone is looking for an interesting glimpse into the challenges and struggles that many Indigenous youth face in today's world, then definitely check out Peter Mansbridge's interview with NHL player Jordin Tootoo.  Jordin gave a very candid interview where he discussed growing up in the north, and some of the social issues that he has dealt with, including his own addictions and his brother's suicide.

Post-Secondary Information Night!

Indigenous Post-Secondary Information Night
Tuesday January 20th, 2015 @ 7:00pm


Did you know that all of these institutions support First Nations, Metis and Inuit students by providing Elders on residence, traditional medicines, and teachings at their intuitions? Did you also know that Children who have spent time in the Child and Family “System” are eligible for tuition waivers?
Confirmed institutions that will be in attendance will include:
·        Red River College
·        University of Manitoba
·        University of Winnipeg
·        Southern Network of Care (CFS)
Join us for an evening of bannock and tea and learn what these wonderful
post-secondary institutions have to offer!

Students and caregivers are invited to the cafeteria at John Taylor Collegiate to attend an informational evening with Post-Secondary institutions on Tuesday January 20th, 2015. Each institution will have a table set-up with information, and will share a brief presentation beginning at 7:00pm.
To aid with planning, please e-mail or call the school @ 204-888-8930 to inform them as to how many people will be in attendance.
